FAQ's - Audio Recordings

Do you edit the recording, or do I have to worry about every "um" and "ah" I say?

No worries - your final product will be edited for everyone's listening pleasure, with unnecessary words and extraneous information taken out.

Will I need to be "on camera?"

Nope! It's strictly an audio format. We record you talking, and then edit that into a printed document or a podcast style interview, or both!

How will I know what to talk about?

Our interviewer will you lead you through a series of customized questions. It's like a nice, long chat you'd have around the kitchen table or a campfire!

Where does the interview take place? Will I need to figure out any new technology?

We prefer to come to you and conduct interviews in-person, where you're most comfortable. A nice quiet spot at home, sitting at a table or on a couch, is generally best.

For other packages, like a wedding or celebration of life, we can either set up at a stationary spot or walk around to interview your guests. For the audio baby book, we can work together to figure out a combination of both in-person and remote interviews.

What types of sources do you use?

At Farrington Street Archives, we have lots of experience digging back through history to rediscover family stories. Using historic newspapers, online genealogical databases, your family records, and other sources specific to your family's geographic or social background, we can put together the lot puzzle pieces to help you understand your family's unique history.
